Product Description
Galaga hit amusement arcades in 1981 to near-unanimous applause. It transported the player into deep space, where hordes of Galaga alien enemies attacked in waves. Your job? Save the world. In a video game first, your spaceship can be trapped in a tractor beam. But if you rescue it by shooting out the Boss Galaga, you’re rewarded with a powerful ‘dual fighter’ with double the firepower, and double the fun!
The Arcade1Up Galaga cabinet is fully licensed. This means that the gameplay, the graphics, and even the control layout are totally authentic to the original. But in a nod to modern technology, now you’re playing on a 17-inch colour LCD screen and enjoying up-to-date sound quality from stereo speakers.
Before Galaga, there was... Galaxian! Released in 1979, it was Namco’s response to the popular videogame Space Invaders by Taito. Galaxian was one of the first games ever to be rendered in RGB colour graphics. The gameplay is fast and frantic - position your starfighter to destroy the ranks of alien enemies that are advancing on you.
Move between the two games easily with the menu screen. It couldn’t be faster to switch on the machine and choose your game. Load it up and you’re instantly transported back to your local amusement arcade in 1979. Penny sweets not included.
The joysticks and buttons are laid out identically to the original Namco machines. Even the graphics on the console are authentic. A two-way joystick controls your starfighter, and the fire button launches your explosive projectiles. There are one-player/two-player select buttons, and an off/on switch and volume control.
Arcade1Up machines are designed to be hassle-free and ready to play, whilst bringing a piece of video game history into your home. With the Galaga machine, arcade nostalgia is yours to own.
