There are so many football tables currently on the market, that choosing the right one can be quite a challenge. The Aurora football has been specifically designed by Strikeworth to help tick all the boxes you need to consider.
The first consideration when choosing a football table is the stability of the structure, the table needs to be able to cope with up to 4 people having an enthusiastic game and present the minimum amount of pitch movement. The aurora has been designed to be tough and stable, it weighs in at 70 kgs and sits on a rigid splayed leg platform supported with lateral beams.
The next thing to look out for is the layout of the football players, in the UK we use a 1,2,5,3 formation on our football tables and that is exactly what you will find on the aurora. You can also be assured of the strength of the players themselves as they are made a solid mould of plastic rather than a hollow construction.
Next up on the check list is the size of the table. Full size tables are generally 5ft in overall length with a pitch size of 4ft 6", you might of guessed it but the the aurora is 5ft in long and has a 4 6" pitch.
A point that can be easily forgotten is how quiet the table is when being played on, this is particularly relevant for tables being used in a home environment. You'll be pleased to know that Strikeworth have fitted the Aurora table with rubber stoppers instead of springs to keep the noise of the rods to a minimum.
A more obvious feature to tick off the list is the inclusion of dead ball corners, these are plastic wedge shaped inserts found on the outside edge of the play surface. On the Aurora you can see these are white in colour and lined with cool LED blue lights. These simple additions help to keep the game fast and the ball in play at all times.
For families with younger children it's important to decide if you would like solid rods or telescopic rods on your football table. For safety, the aurora is fitted with 1.6cm thick telescopic rods, the larger diameter means they remain safely within the confines of that table but are strong enough to feel smooth and accurate during play.
The size of the handles on a football table can make quite a difference to how the players can be controlled, the aurora boasts grips that are 3.6 cm in diameter, not only are these comfortable to use during a long game but allow much better control and power delivery through the players.
Once a goal is scored on a professional football table the ball should ideally be returned to the opposing player who can then restart the game through a hole cut into the side of the cabinet. Not only does the Aurora have smart chromed chutes to introduce the ball into play, but it also boasts a professional ball return system that will send the ball to the correct player once a goal is scored.
Now you have ticked off all the major points, the final things to check are that firstly the table can be levelled, the Aurora can and has independent levelling feet at the bottom of each leg. And finally does the table have a way of keeping the score? Well on the Aurora this is done using elegant chromed scoring units mounted at each end.
Now probably not on the core checklist, but something we'd like to draw your attention to is the addition of floodlighting for when the table is played in the evening. Well as the name suggests, the aurora has been designed to accommodate a strip of LED flood lights to illuminate the play surface. If blue LED's are not to your taste then they can be easily removed, but come free with the table.
The Strikeworth Aurora really does tick all the boxes that should be considered when purchasing a table football for your home, office or communal area - it even has one further feature that can be useful when the table is not in use... this year the Aurora has been fitted with a removable table top allowing the structure to turn into a useful buffet table in seconds.
