Product Description
The Blackball slate bed pool table is a British-made, British-spec pool table that is built for maximum performance and tournament-grade gameplay. It has been created to bring the finest in game quality to the most discerning players, with various features that bring it firmly into the realms of true competition performance.
Blackball tables were developed by legendary 8-ball pool player Ross McInnes. The four-time World Champion used the experience he gained through 30 years of professional pool playing to create the ultimate British pool table, suitable for all levels of competition and casual play.
There are two sizes available. Choose the 6ft for more compact spaces. It’s still plenty big enough for a great game - most pubs and bars use 6ft tables, so if you’re looking for an authentic pub experience, the 6ft is ideal. But if you want a real tournament experience, and you have the space, then the competition-standard 7ft size is the one to choose. Not sure? Read our Pool Table Room Size Guide and learn how to measure up your room.
The Blackball is created in the style of standard British tournament tables, with wedge-shaped legs and a deep, robust cabinet. It’s designed to withstand constant tournament use, making it ideal for competition but also for home games rooms, bars, pubs and common rooms. There’s a whole range of finishes to choose from. Keep it clean with the black or white options, or go more traditional with a range of attractive wood veneers. Elegant metal corner caps look great, and protect the most vulnerable parts of the table from accidental damage.
You can choose which pocket type your table is built with. The Club option is the standard amateur-spec pocket that you’ll find on pub tables and home games room tables. It’s the same as most other British pool tables, and is the one to go for if you’re buying a fun table for your home or business.
The Elite option cuts the pockets tighter to create more of a challenge. This is the pocket specification used in professional International and European tournaments. If you’re a professional player looking for a tournament-grade table for serious practice, the Elite pocket option is the one you should choose.
The playfield is formed from a single piece of ground slate, machined and flattened for a perfectly level surface. This is cradled in an aluminium support system that keeps the slate in place, and is fastened down with 12 quick-release cushion retainers. This makes it easy to access the slate, for re-clothing or maintenance, but also ensures a uniform ball rebound across all cushions, with no dead spots. This design also has the effect of reducing bounce-outs from the pockets.
The cloth of choice is Hainsworth Match, especially selected for these tables by Ross. Match cloth is truly competition-spec, and is used by ACBS, BAPTO, the World Pool Championships, the British Open and many other world-class tournament organisations. You can read more about Hainsworth Match pool table cloth here, or read about your other cloth options below. Make no mistake: the Blackball is a true tournament table, with the game performance - and cloth - to match.
The Blackball table can be modified for commercial installations with the addition of a coin mech, which allows people to pay for credits with small change. You can choose a mechanical mech or an electronic mech. All of these options include a secure cash box, as well as a ball return system with cue ball splitter. And you’ll get an accessory pack with your table, too. It includes a set of Aramith red and yellow balls and a triangle.
Cues are not included with the Blackball table. As this is a professional table aimed at expert players, it is assumed that you'll likely already have your own preferred cue. If you wish to add a pair of 57-inch or 48-inch 2-piece cues to your order, you can use the dropdown above. Or browse our British pool cues section to find one that's perfect for you.
The table comes with a set of premium Aramith red and yellow balls as standard, but you can upgrade these for the true competition-spec Aramith Pro Cup balls if required. And you can upgrade the standard black plastic triangle for the stylish Racker aluminium triangle. Or you can add a two-piece tabletop to your Blackball, to protect the cloth and also to provide a helpful surface. Simply add these to your order using the menu above.
The Blackball is offered with a wide range of cloth options. This is because it's a true tournament table for discerning players, who often have a preferred cloth. The table comes as standard with Hainsworth Match cloth in green. Match is a premium British pool cloth developed for tournament use, and is ideal for the professional player. Blue and Silver Match options are also available for a surcharge. The full colour range of Hainsworth Smart is also available. Smart is a hard-wearing, high-quality cloth ideal for more casual players playing British pool. It performs well and is resistant to damage.
For those looking for a faster game, we can fit Hainsworth Elite-Pro in the full range of colours. Elite Pro is a nylon-based speed cloth more suited to American pool games, but increasingly popular on British tables at home. One unusual option is Simonis 861 in Power Blue only. 861 is a worsted, non-directional cloth developed for larger tables, and specifically for the game of Chinese pool. And finally you can choose Strachan Superfine cloth in Olive Green or Grey. It's a real tournament-standard British pool cloth with anti-kick technology and is made from 100% wool. It's used by the IBSF for all tournaments including the World Championships. Check out the options at the top of this listing for more information.
This table is available with the Contactless Payment system, exclusively available through Liberty Games. Now your customers don't need to ask for change - they can use their contactless card, mobile phone or payment system to instantly add credits.
The system deducts the price of a credit from your customer and instantly sends it to your account. The balls are released immediately. It's quicker and easier than using coins. Read more in our guide to contactless games tables.
Ensure that your new Blackball table will fit into your games room, and leave you plenty of cueing space in all directions. Check out our Pool Table Room Size Guide to learn how to measure your games room and calculate space correctly.
