Can a Pool Table be Delivered Upstairs ?
So you've decided you want a pool table but the room you want it in is upstairs. On products where Upstairs Delivery is included or offered optionally with your table, you will still need to plan ahead to ensure our team are able to do it. On products with no upstairs delivery available, you will need to carry it up yourself (with, we recommend, a team of strong people to help).
Depending on the complexity of your staircase and the size and weight of your desired pool table, upstairs deliveries are rarely a problem, but there are a few things to consider.
Check The Dimensions
Check the table dimensions. The generic table length used in the product name is often not exactly precise - a '6ft' table could be slightly larger or smaller than 6ft. For accuracy, please check the exact dimensions in the Specifications section at the bottom of the product listing.
Walk The Route
It can be helpful to extend a tape measure to the exact length of the table and manouevre it around the route the table will take, holding it rigid. Be mindful of the width of the table too, and of any obstructions such as furniture, bannisters, light fittings, overhead alcoves etc. Staircases with multiple flights should be checked to ensure the table can turn any corners.
Choose the Right Table Size
As you'd expect, the smaller the table, the easier this will be. According to our install teams, a 6ft table is much easier to get up a staircase than a 7ft. If in doubt, choose the smaller option if available.
Clear the Route
Before taking the table upstairs, clear all furniture, clutter and trip hazards along the entire route. Pets should be secured safely out of the way.
Use Lifts If Available
If you can use a lift for the table, you should do so. But bear in mind again that a 6ft table usually fits into a lift cubicle, while a 7ft usually doesn't.
Safety First
If attempting to take a pool table upstairs yourself, be mindful of correct lifting techniques, for example protecting your back from injury. Grab a group of strong friends to help - you can promise them a game on your new table as a thank-you.
Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail
Good planning is essential. Walk the route and take measurements everywhere before ordering your table. Our friendly sales staff are trained and experienced in planning tricky deliveries and our install teams are real experts - so please do ask us for help and guidance. We might ask for photographs or a walk-through video of the route.
